How do I get Send to TV?

Send to TV is available to Comcast customers that have an XG1 set-top box on the X1 Platform, XFINITY’s next-generation entertainment platform, and Xfinity Internet service.

What does "beta" mean?

Send to TV is in "Beta". "Beta" means this version is a preview release intended for public evaluation and feedback. Any such feedback may be incorporated in a future release.

What is my sign-in and password?

Your credentials are your Comcast.net sign-in and password. If you know your Comcast.net username or email address but have forgotten your password, you may reset it here: https://login.comcast.net/myaccount/reset

What is a bookmarklet?

A bookmarklet is a small computer application that is stored in your web browser as the URL of a bookmark or as a hyperlink. Selecting the bookmarklet launches the Send to TV application.

How do I use Send to TV on my smartphone or tablet?

You can follow these instructions to use Send to TV on your smartphone or tablet.

Can I send a video that is on a website to the TV without sending the entire webpage?

Yes, you can send a video on certain websites. Some websites have tags that specifically identify videos on a webpage or website. If the site has these tags, the bookmarklet will automatically display the "send video" option. If Send to TV doesn’t find these video tags, it can’t give you the option of sending only video to your TV.

Do I have to leave the website open on my PC, tablet, or other device once I use the bookmarklet to Send to TV?

No. Once you have used Send to TV for that website or video, the X1 Platform will download the website from its source and you no longer need the website to be open on the original device. You may want to discontinue the download you initiated on your PC, tablet, or other device once you hit Send to TV in order to minimize any data usage associated with that device.

Why doesn't the bookmarklet work on my browser?

The bookmarklet is officially only supported on the following operating systems and browsers:

Mac OX X 10.6/10.7/10.8: Latest stable versions of Safari, FireFox, and Chrome.

Windows Vista/7/8:Latest stable versions of IE 8.x.x, IE 9.x.x, IE 10.x.x, Firefox 18.0.x or later, Chrome 23.0.x.x or later.

iOS 5/6: (Safari).

Android OS Gingerbread (2.3.x), Honeycomb (3.1.x, 3.2.x), Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0.x), Jelly Bean (4.1.x, 4.2.x): Chrome and default browser.

Why do I need to lower my security settings to use Send to TV bookmarklet?

Send to TV bookmarklet makes use of browser cookies technology. Few browsers do not allow bookmarklets to save 3rd party cookies by default. We recommend that you lower your browser security settings only for sendtotv.x1.comcast.net domain or try using either the Chrome, Safari, or Firefox browser.

What terms apply to my use of Send to TV? Are there any data usage thresholds or limitations?

Use of Send to TV requires and uses your Xfinity Internet service and is subject to the Customer Agreement for Residential Services and the Xfinity Internet Acceptable Use Policy for High-Speed Internet Services. Your use of Xfinity Internet service to use Send to TV will be reflected in your usage meter, and will count toward any applicable data plan included in the Xfinity Internet Acceptable Use Policy for High-Speed Internet Services.

Why don’t the websites work when I use Send to TV?

Not all websites are designed for TV-viewing or navigation using a remote control. In addition, certain web software and technologies are not supported on the X1 Platform. As the ability to send web content to the TV becomes more mainstream, more and more websites should be optimized to present web content in a format designed for TVs’ display and content navigation standards. We will soon release guidelines to help website designers optimize their sites for web-to-TV display.

How do I ensure a website displays correctly when sent to a TV?

Whether a website displays correctly when sent to a TV is largely dependent on whether the website is optimized to present web content in a format designed for TVs’ display and content navigation standards. A number of websites already are optimized for TV, and it should become more common over time. We will soon release guidelines to help website designers optimize their sites for web-to-TV display.

How do I navigate on the displayed website?

You can navigate on the displayed website by using your TV remote. For example, you can scroll up and down on the displayed website by using the "Page Up" or "Page Down" on your remote. We leave it up to the website provider to optimize its website so that it can interact with other commands sent from the TV remote, such as clicking on links. However, these additional navigation functions will not work on websites that have not been optimized for TV.

How do I click on a link on the displayed website?

If a website is optimized for TV, click on a website link by moving to the link using the [Up], [Down], [Left], [Right] buttons on your remote, then press [Ok] to select that link. If the website you are viewing isn’t yet optimized for TV, it will not support zoom or link clicks, but you can still scroll up and down using your remote.

How can I navigate on the TV to another webpage or a different website?

For websites that are optimized for display on TV, you may be able to navigate to another webpage using the remote control to select links. For websites that are not optimized, to display a different webpage on your TV, you will need to navigate to the webpage you want on the browser on your PC, tablet, or other device and then use the Send to TV bookmarklet.

How do I play/pause/forward/rewind videos that are being displayed?

Unless a website is optimized for TV, you may not always be able to play or pause video on a particular website using the buttons on your remote.

How do I mute the TV audio and listen to the audio on the sent webpage?

If you send a video to the TV, the TV will automatically mute and you will hear the audio from the web video. If you send just a webpage that includes audio, press the "A" key on the remote to toggle live TV volume on/off.

Why does the displayed website appear cut off or distorted?

The website you are viewing is not optimized for the TV experience.

How do I display the website in full-screen?

Some websites that can be displayed in full-screen will automatically display in full-screen when launched. There is no action needed on your part. Websites that do not display in full-screen can be changed to full-screen mode by pressing the [A] button on your remote control.

How do I exit the displayed website?

You can exit the web view by pressing "EXIT" on the TV remote or the web remote.

How do I setup Parental Controls for "Send to TV" service?

You can control access to Send to TV by using a Service Lock to set a parental control code. Once restricted, Send to TV can only be accessed by entering your Locks PIN. The Locks PIN will have to be entered each time anyone tries to use Send to TV. To set up parental controls for Send to TV, navigate to Settings > Parental Controls > Service Locks, and set “Apps and Extras” to “Locked.”

The Service Lock for “Apps and Extras” is separate from the parental controls you use to control access to the video programming you watch on your TV, Xfinity TV online, or the XFINITY TV app. To set parental controls for the video programming on your TV, press the XFINITY button and then go to Settings > Parental Controls. To set parental controls for Xfinity TV online, log into Comcast.net, press the “Manage parental controls” button at the bottom of the page, and then select Xfinity TV Online Parental Controls.
